Arm me with some balls!

What is with soldiers complaining about going to war?

As a taxpaying citizen I am outraged at funding our armed forces in the knowledge that our tax dollars are essentially being wasted. We are almost at the point where we shouldn't even bother having a military. No doubt this statement will receive a great deal of applause from the left leaning, tree hugging hippies who live in the idealistic fantasyland of New Zealand.

Technically we don't have a military, we have a defence force. But what could our defence force protect us from? No, really?

If you are paid to train for combat, and there is a war going on then expect to get your arse sent there. Guts come with the glory. Be thankful that our weak government doesn't have the courage to send you into battle and that you will only have to undertake engineering work in relatively peaceful and occupied areas.

You're a soldier and an engineer and that is why you are sent instead of civillian contractors.

Soldiers get sent to areas of conflicts. That's the point. My 3 year old nephew knows that the terms 'soldier' and 'war' are synonimous. The military isn't a free ride! If you couldn't handle the reality you should never have joined. That's why i'm sitting behind a desk. Just shut up and do your job!

NZ should just have a natural disaster relief force and then pay the US for military protection, like other countries. The budget for the US military is crazy when you compare it to the budget spent on edumacation. Besides now-days more is lost by military conflict than by peaceful resolution.
